Transforming communities through justice, knowledge, recovery and hope.
Alta-1 is committed to being a child safe organisation. We have a legal, moral and mission-driven responsibility
to create environments that respect, nurture and empower our students.
Our students have the fundamental right to be safe and feel safe while in our care.
Child safety is embedded in our culture; it is at the centre of our thought, values and actions.
We promote safety and social justice as two of our key organisational values.
We pay particular attention to the cultural safety of Aboriginal students and those from culturally
and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
We acknowledge the increased vulnerability of some of our students, such as those with a disability.
We value and empower our students to participate in decisions that affect their lives.
We engage only the most suitable people to work with our students, and maintain
high quality supervision and professional learning.
We value the input of families and the wider community in our work.
We foster a culture of openness that supports all persons to safely disclose risks of harm to children.
We treat allegations and safety concerns seriously. We promptly respond in line with our robust policies and procedures.
We have a legal and moral obligation to contact authorities when we are concerned for the safety of a student.
Every person involved in Alta-1 has a responsibility to understand his/her role in in ensuring the safety
and wellbeing of our students
